Gutter Guard in Indooroopilly

Indooroopilly is one of Brisbane's established western suburbs, sitting on the river about seven kilometres from the CBD and shaped by the railway that reached it in the 1870s. Early prosperity produced substantial timber homes on the ridges, and successive waves of post-war and contemporary development added infill housing, a major shopping centre, and dense residential and commercial building around the station. The vegetation is equally established. Indooroopilly's older streets carry very large mature trees, including the figs that give neighbouring Fig Tree Pocket its name, alongside eucalypts, poincianas and camphor laurels on hilly blocks that put canopy well above roof height.

Each building type fails differently under that load. On a high-set Queenslander, the risk is the timber. Original fascia and eaves lining sit directly behind a shallow ogee gutter, and when that gutter blocks and overflows repeatedly, water tracks back into hundred-year-old timber. On apartment and commercial buildings, the risk is the box gutter.
