Why Gutters Matter in a Bushfire
Ember attack starts fires well away from the fire itself. Wind drops embers onto roofs, and a gutter packed with dry leaves is one of the easiest places for them to take hold.
Clearing gutters before fire season helps. Keeping them from filling up at all helps more. That's the thinking behind ember guard.

Bushfire-Prone Areas and the Australian Standard
AS 3959:2018 is the standard that governs building in bushfire-prone areas. For gutter and valley guards it asks one thing: if you fit them, they must be non-combustible. Our aluminium mesh is non-combustible, so it meets that requirement at every Bushfire Attack Level, right through BAL-40 and Flame Zone.
Worth knowing, because a lot of people get told otherwise: ember guards for roof vents, eave gaps and fascia gaps are a separate requirement. From BAL-40 up, the standard calls for steel or bronze there, not aluminium. If your place is rated BAL-40 or Flame Zone, ask us and we'll tell you straight what our mesh does and doesn't cover.
